Dr. Ates-Alagoz is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She received  her MS and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Ankara University  Faculty of Pharmacy, and BS in Pharmacy from the University of Ankara. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Sciences in Philadelphia from 2008 to 2010. She was appointed as a Research Assistant Professor in 2011, then an Adjunct Associate Professor at the same University. Dr. Ates-Alagoz is currently working as a full time Professor, and also a Vice Dean at Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy in Turkey. Her research interests are in the area of drug discovery, focusing on both organic synthesis and structure-activity relationships. She has synthesized novel compounds having indole/benzimidazole/thiazolidinedione ring systems and evaluated their antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer activities. She also worked on several projects including syntheses of novel NMDA receptor antagonists for treatment of Alzheimer disease,  and syntheses of novel radiosensitizers for anticancer activity. She has published more than 30 papers in reputed journals and has been the recipient of many grants.
